DeSci Labs is a passionate group of builders who are working to create a radically transparent ledger of scientific record that is reproducible, secure, permanent, interoperable and resistant to cross-national censorship. 

Their first project, Research Nodes, is an interface for interactive research objects living in an open state repositories. These research objects give scientists the ability to store a variety of components including manuscripts, code, data, videos, images and more. These components can be linked together to showcase reproducibility through an imbedded annotation system and in-browser compute functionality on a familiar IDE interface.  The entirety of a Research Node is citeable, from the entire object down to a specific annotation in a past version history.

NFT.Storage is a long-term storage service designed for off-chain NFT data (like metadata, images, and other assets) for up to 31GiB in size per individual upload. Data is content addressed using IPFS, meaning the URI pointing to a piece of data (“ipfs://…”) is completely unique to that data (using a content identifier, or CID). IPFS URLs and CIDs can be used in NFTs and metadata to ensure the NFT forever actually refers to the intended data (eliminating things like rug pulls, and making it trustlessly verifiable what content an NFT is associated with).

NFT.Storage stores many copies of uploaded data on the public IPFS network in two primary ways: in dedicated IPFS servers managed by NFT.Storage, and decentralized on Filecoin. Since IPFS is a standard used by many different storage services, it's easy to redundantly store data uploaded to NFT.Storage on any other IPFS-compatible storage solution from pinning services, to your local IPFS node, to other storage networks like Arweave or Storj. And as time goes on, NFT.Storage will increasingly decentralize itself as a public good!

FilOz is an independent public good Filecoin protocol design & development team working on Filecoin improvement, security, maintaining core codebases like lotus & ref-fvm, and helping support & grow Filecoin OSS developer community.

Filecoin is a peer-to-peer network that stores files, with built-in economic incentives and cryptography to ensure files are stored reliably over time. In Filecoin, users pay to store their files on storage providers. Storage providers are computers responsible for storing files and proving they have stored them correctly over time. Anyone who wants to store their files or get paid for storing other users’ files can join Filecoin. Available storage, and the price of that storage, are not controlled by any single company. Instead, Filecoin facilitates open markets for storing and retrieving files that anyone can participate in.

Filecoin is built on top of the same software powering IPFS protocol, which is a peer-to-peer distributed storage network that leverages content addressing to allow permanent references to the data, and avoids relying on specific devices or cloud servers for addressing the content.
